Where is Netra Eye Institute located, and are there branch offices?

Netra Eye Institute operates from South Plainfield, New Jersey, at 5001 Hadley Rd, Ste 210. There are currently no branch locations, but we serve patients from across Middlesex, Union and Somerset counties.

What is Netra Restoration Therapy (NRT)?

NRT is a holistic, integrative eye-care approach combining Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda — including acupuncture, herbal remedies and lifestyle guidance — to improve ocular circulation, regulate inflammation, and support retinal and optic-nerve health.

What results can I expect from NRT?

For many conditions, patients begin to notice changes in their vision within the first weeks of treatment. Individual results vary based on the condition, its severity and overall health, and degenerative conditions often require follow-up sessions.

Do you accept health insurance for these treatments?

Holistic therapies such as acupuncture and herbal medicine for eye conditions are generally not covered by health insurance. We can discuss costs and payment options during your consultation.

Why is Netra Restoration Therapy not covered by insurance?

Insurance plans typically do not cover holistic acupuncture and herbal-supplement approaches for eye conditions, even though research increasingly supports addressing root causes such as vascular dysregulation and inflammation.

Why is my eye doctor not aware of Netra Eye Institute?

Many eye doctors are not yet familiar with integrative eyecare. Recent research points to vascular dysregulation, neurotrophin deprivation, inflammation and oxidative stress as root causes of vision loss across many disorders — the pathways NRT targets.

How long are the treatments?

Treatment courses are typically 2 to 4 weeks depending on severity. Degenerative conditions usually benefit from periodic follow-up sessions.

What eye conditions do you treat?

We treat a wide range of retinal, optic-nerve, glaucoma, corneal, refractive and inflammatory conditions. See our Conditions We Treat page for the full list.

Do you offer treatment for children with vision problems?

Yes. We see pediatric patients, particularly for myopia and keratoconus, to help slow progression and support vision.

Do I have to come in person for treatments?

Yes. NRT requires in-person office appointments at our South Plainfield location.

Can I use my HSA, FSA or HRA for payment?

Acupuncture is generally an eligible expense with a flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA) or health reimbursement arrangement (HRA). Please confirm with your plan administrator.
