For Physicians
A collaborative, science-informed approach to complex ophthalmic disease
Netra Eye Institute is a specialty center dedicated to the integrative eyecare management of chronic, progressive and refractory ocular conditions — emphasizing co-management, transparent communication and biologically plausible mechanisms.
Full-spectrum complementary eye care
Our approach complements conventional ophthalmology by addressing cellular, metabolic, vascular, inflammatory and neurodegenerative contributors to vision loss. We strongly encourage patients to remain under the ongoing care of their primary eye-care provider, with continued monitoring via OCT, visual fields, IOP, fundus photography, corneal topography and ERG.
Shared pathophysiology we target
- Ocular & optic-nerve microcirculation dysregulation
- Chronic low-grade inflammation
- Oxidative stress & mitochondrial dysfunction
- Impaired neurotrophic signaling
- Microvascular ischemia & endothelial dysfunction
- Accelerated neurodegeneration
NRT components
Targeted acupuncture protocols, ocular-focused herbal pharmacology, strategies to reduce ferroptosis, and traditional ophthalmic procedures (ocular-surface stabilization, periocular microcirculatory enhancement, neurosensory modulation and anti-inflammatory support).
Conditions commonly referred
- Open-angle & normal-tension glaucoma
- Progressive optic neuropathy
- Dry & wet AMD
- Diabetic retinopathy & macular edema
- Retinal vascular occlusion
- Retinitis pigmentosa & inherited dystrophies
- Chronic uveitis & inflammatory disease
- Keratoconus & corneal degenerations
- Severe / refractory dry eye
- Progressive field loss of unclear etiology
Absolute contraindications
- Active ocular infection
- Recent intraocular surgery or trauma
- Uncontrolled ocular inflammation
- Open globe or corneal epithelial defect
Relative contraindications and exclusion criteria are reviewed individually during the referral assessment.
Referral & co-management process
Our process includes history review, imaging and diagnostic evaluation, suitability determination and patient-specific planning. Referring clinicians receive case assessments, treatment updates, observational findings and co-management recommendations. Most major insurance plans are accepted for eligible services.
